Extra repairs needed for Trafalgar Road A poor construction job, coupled with bad weather and heavy trucks on a 15- mile stretch of Trafalgar Road, between Halton Hills and Oakville, will result in an unexpected repair bill, the region’s public works committee was told last week. Sections of the road are déteriorating rapidly, according to Jack Corbett, the region’s construction manager. He said some of the materials used to pave the road were substandard and when the road was tested, it was dis- covered that some strengthening would be needed. Wet weather and heavy traffic, par- ticularly ministry of transportation and communications (MTC) trucks using the road as a haul route, were also slated as reasons for the road’s poor condition. The entire construction of the road will cost $674,700. The cost of repairing and strengthening portions of the road will be an added $60,000, a cost which Bob Moore, director of public works, recommended to be shared een the region, the MTC and the pany that provided the materials. Local manreceives college appointment H. William Hanson, of Oakville, has been appointed director of educational services at Hamilton’s Mohawk College. Mr. Hanson has been with the college 12 years, most recently as head of the two-year business program and manager of the Mohawk College . Management Educational Services.
