Turner to campaign on issues By Dianne Cornish Halton-Peel MP Garth Turner said Thursday he cannot think of a “better way to bring the concerns of Halton-Peel residents to the fore- front than by entering Canada’s Progressive Conservative leader- ship race. Speaking from his Ottawa office during a telephone interview, Turner said he wants the opportu- nity to speak about ideas and issues that are important to Canadians. That’s one of the major reasons why he announced his candidacy for the leadership at a Wednesday morning press conference in Ottawa. He also promised to run a deficit-free leadership campaign. “Tf the campaign runs out of gas, we’ ll just stop and raise some more money and go on from there.” Turner was scheduled to meet with his. team of volunteer cam- paign workers this morning at North Halton Golf and Country Club, in Georgetown. Details of his campaign will be unveiled within the next three weeks.
