Trial date held over The trial date for a Halton Regional policeman facing charges of attempting to obstruct justice won’t be announced until April 19 at Milton provincial court. The court appearance date for 46-year-old Sergeant Rod Wilson, of Burlington, was expected to be announced Monday, but the announcement has been postponed for a month, a court official said this week. The obstruction charges against Sgt. Wilson relate to a recorded message left eight months ago on machine of Halton Hills Councillor ae Johnston. The tape was turned 07 to Halton Regional Police Setice and an investigation was conducted by the Professional Standards Bureau. McGuigan, Q.C. The contents of the telephone mes- sage led to the attempting to obstruct justice charge against Sgt. Wilson. Sgt. Wilson has been booked off sick since the charge was laid in mid-February. The charge is connected with events which occurred last May. At that time, Councillor Johnston, who also sits on regional council, received an anonymous letter alleg- ing a cover-up by Halton police administration on a domestic assault incident that occurred in 1983. An internal investigation conducted by the OPP concluded last June there was no wrongdoing by police administration.
