The Broug By Rosaleen Garneau ‘As a member of the jazz group “panache a trois”, Adam Broughton, Georgetown resident and musician brothers Paul and Steve Johnston of Ottawa. Broughton, for the group, with-Steve on guitar and Paul on acoustic bass. ‘They spent May and June playing on the streets of Ottawa and Montreal which led to 30 bookings for July at parties, clubs and restau- rants. They also participated in jazz festivals. Broughton is no stranger to the stage. While attending Centennial Middle School, and until Grade 10, (at Georgetown District High School) he was part of a rock ‘n roll band with fellow students Adam Bennett, Shane Olereive and Sean Cotton. Bennett is now with the Chicago Blackhawks NHL; Olereive is with a music group, No Less Lunatic, and is also releasing an album. Cotton is a “music front man, creat- ing his own sound”. Broughton was a member of vari- ous bands and choirs at high school, while teaching drum lessons, appearing on the honor roll and receiving honor awards from Musicfest Canada.
