With home ownership, you feel the pride If you’re a homeowner, you undoubtedly have a cer- tain sense of pride in your surroundings — whether you own a small condominium or a spacious country estate. You know both the joy and the sense of security that come with owning a place of your own. The rewards of home own- ership are endless — from the confidence ‘in knowing you’ve made a sound finan- cial investment in your future — to the pride in having a place you can truly call your own. And just knowing the memories your family creates in your home can be passed on from one generation to the ext makes the joy of home ownership all the more fulfill- in; 2. It’s no wonder then, that the theme of this year’s Ontario Home Week — Sept. 26 to Oct. 2 - is: “Home Ownership ... feel the pride.” Celebration of Homes & Communities Ontario Home Week is a celebration of homes and communities — communities created by the homeowners who build their lives in them. Initiated in 1980 by the Ontario Real Estate Association, the event was originally called Private Property Week. It earned that name because it was launched to bring the issue of property rights to the attention of the New home sales improving New home sales through- out the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) remain slightly above what they were during the same period last year, said the president of the Greater Toronto Home Builders’ Association. Murray Koebel, in his monthly report on sales activity in GTA, said sales for the first eight months of 1993 total 6,906, up margin- ally from the 6,872 sales recorded during the same period in 1992. There were 717 new homes sold in August, down just 4% from the 748 sales recorded in August, 1992. Condominium sales have been steady through the first eight months of 1993, total- ing 2,094, up, 24% from the 1,686 sales during the same period last-year.o.-.. “The combination of stable prices, record low interest rates and plenty of choice have combined to make housing more attractive and affordable to potential new home buyers, but this current buyer’s market may come to an end,” said Koebel. According to a new report from housing analyst Clayton Research Associates, housing in most parts of Canada is as affordable now as at any time since the early ‘70s. The report says “continu- ing low interest rates are expected to increase home buying activity in the near future. Pent-up demand con- tinues to build, however, and could send prices higher.” Housing Data Report (HDR), prepared by Brethour Research Associates for the GTHBA, stated that August sales consisted of 500 free- hold homes (70%) and 217 condominiums (30%). In addition to reporting Greater Toronto Area sales, HDR compiled sales by GTHBA member builders active in regions outside the regular tracking area. The 35 sales were distributed as fol- ows: Innisfil - 10; Collingwood - 8; Peterboro - 6; Orangeville - 5; Bolton and. Wasaga. Beach. -.2 each and Barrie and Kitchener - 1 2 ach. The Greater Toronto Home Builders’ Association was established in 1921 and has more than 730 member companies representing Builder/Renovator/Develope rs, Financial, Professional, Supply/Service and Sub- Contractors and is the largest affiliate of the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders’ Associations. 2 | | 873.0300 5 b bt PRICED RIGHT!
