VOLUME 1, ISSUE 11 THE ACTON MONTHLY PAGE 3 HomeCrafts to include “fowl” family fun and urban farming at this year’s fair There will be lots to see and do at the 110th Annual Acton Fall Fair, and that includes a visit to the HomeCraft Exhibit Hall. Incorporating this year’s theme, “Fair is Fowl and Fowl is Fair,” HomeCraft President Kathryn Lynch says the Exhibit Hall, inside the Dufferin Rural Heritage Community Centre, will be filled with tons of events for the entire family to experience, particularly on Saturday, Sept 16th. For example, along with the traditional exhibits on display, the day will include a game of fowl-themed bingo and a fowl-themed fashion show where friends and families can wear some feathered fashions, all for the sake of fun. Additionally, there will be urban farming demos which will feature gardening with Red’s Garden Centre, backyard maple tree tapping, bee keeping, and foraging. According to Lynch, the idea behind urban farm lemos is to entice the public into getting more involved with agriculture and that it can be done on a small scale by simply planting a garden in the backyard or having some plants on a balcony. La It is to note that all events within the HomeCraft Exhibit are free to participate in and fun prizes will be the latter being judged by the audience. The Acton Fall Fair is September 15th, 16th, and 17th at Prospect Park.
