PAGE 4 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME |, ISSUE IT EDITORIAL With Scott Brooks I don’t know about you, but it sure felt that the month of August just flew by as here we are with September now upon us! The old saying “times flies when you're having fun” sure did apply during August as there were many fun events that happened within our great community of Acton. It was a welcome sight to see everyone gather on Mill Street East to take in the sights and sounds of Leathertown Festival on August 13th. I wish to extend my congrats to BIA Coordinator Matt Galliford and his team of dedicated volunteers for putting on another successful festival that was thoroughly enjoyed by all those in attendance, myself included. A full report on LTF can be found on pages 1, 12 & 13 in this edi- tion of The Acton Monthly. Well done, and I, along with the rest of Acton, can’t wait to see what’s in store for Leathertown Festival 2024! Other events that took place during the last unofficial month of summer included a Garden Party at the Acton Community Garden, and two Legion events with the Gary Munday Annual Fishing Derby and the Show & Shine classic car show. We are quite fortunate to be living in a town where we have many community events for us to attend, and in order for these events to continue, I encourage you to participate in as many as you can, such as the Acton Fall Fair (Sept 15-17) and the Annual Terry Fox Run (Sept 17). Additionally, be sure to read the Community Calendar on page 15, each month, so you can stay informed on the many events that will be happening within Acton and area! It was “bumper-to-bumper” as antique and classic cars of all ages, makes, and models filled the parking lot at the Acton Legion’s 7th Annual Classic Car Show and Shine, on Sunday, August 27th. More than 250 cars were on display, with the oldest car being a 1915 Ford Model T. According to organizers, the sunny weather contributed to the event’s large turnout.
