During last year’s parade, there were over 40 floats and organizations participating in the event and many are expected to be seen again in this year’s edition of the parade. According to Rob Vallance, of the Parade Committee, the parade will start at 1 P.M. at Acton Blvd and Queen Street, making its way down Mill Street, turning up Main Street North, and ending at Prospect Park. Along with the sights and sounds of floats and marching bands, Vallance says the parade is an opportunity to collect letters to Santa and to lend a helping hand to the community. “We'll be taking letters, food donations, and things of © such to give back to the community, and make sure the letters get up to Santa.” The Firefighters’ Association will also be on hand collecting donations to help fund the parade and to support the Annual Canada Day Fireworks display. In addition to the parade, happening on the same day in Downtown Acton will be Christmas markets at both the Acton Town Hall Centre and the Roxy Centre, where spectators of the parade can get a “The Opticians Behind the Church” office at 80 Mill Street East. Coverage of the parade will be recorded through YourTV (Cogeco) and prizes will be awarded to the best decorated floats.
