VOLUME 2, ISSUE 2 THE ACTON MONTHLY PAGE 9 Hillsview Report With Matas Eimantas Hillsview Active Living 50+ Seniors Centre - Acton The Hillsview 50+ Seniors Centre is excited to head into the holiday season. On Saturday November 25th we hosted our annual Christmas Bazaar and Tea Room. Year after year, this event is enjoyed by both members of the centre and the community alike. Those who came out enjoyed homemade sandwiches, decadent desserts, scrumptious scones and washed it all down with coffee and tea. Attendees were also able to browse the fantastic collection of books, puzzles, Christmas decorations, jewelry, handbags and new this year... house plants. We plan on selling the house plants at our Spring Bazaar as well, so come on out and find some new greenery to add to your home. December we will be hosting a variety of holiday themed events. Starting with our tree and centre decorating and culminating with the Christmas Dinner and Dance at the Legion which is always a highlight of the year. There are a wide range of other holiday rograms as well, including card making, ornament decorating, and a festive Secret Santa event. Come out to the centre to check out what is happening! Hillsview has also been providing more cultural programs. On November 14th, the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (Cone ¢ came to the centre to showcase Caribbean Cultur Attendees were able to sample delicious food and listen to traditional Caribbean music. The CCAH taught us much about the Caribbean history, experiences, and traditions. We look HILLSAV IEW Active Living Centre forward to working with them again soon! On November 28th, Drag Academy came to the centre to do a workshop on Gender & Sexual Identity and Pronoun use. This workshop helped participants to understand their own identities, and aid in having conversations with the young people in their lives. We appreciate all the time and effort Drag Academy ut into this presentation and look forward to their visit to the Georgetown site.
