The last U.C.W. meeting of the year was held Dec. 21 at the United Church in the form of a pot luck sup- per. Members had brought along guests, which made for a festive air. These items were then auctioned off. What fun was had during the auc- tion! There was $175 raised from the sales, all of which will be donated to the local food banks. The folks that went to the New Year’s Eve Dance got a pleasant surprise. The community centre looked great! All the staircases have had the carpeting removed nd have now been tiled. Wainscoting has been added everywhere where it wasn’t before, including the bar. Major work has been done in all the bathrooms. Besides retiling the floors, here walls were replastered, with some walls even replaced and then a fresh coat of paint brightened ery . New toi: let paper and towel dis- pensers were added. Lovely new wooden mir- rors in the washrooms give a nice, homey effect. Brand also kitchens. brooms ‘and mops were placed in the upstairs women’s washrooms and in the walkway between the old and new basement, along with a few new brooms. The other great addition was the automatic air fresheners. What a dif- ference! Some heavy cleaning of all the walls and cupboards throughout had the commu- nity Centre so nice, clean and shining to bring in the New ‘Year.
