- Description
- Hiram George Norton 1876-1947 son of Hiram C. & Elizabeth (Wilkinson) Norton. Hiram G. Norton spent the first two years of his life with his parents and brother in Forest, Ontario but then the family moved back to Tapleytown, Saltfleet Township.
The parents of Hiram C. Norton were Elizabeth and John Norton. They brought their family to Tapleytown, Upper Canada where their son Hiram worked as a hired hand in Palermo for the Wilkinson family (a distance of about 35 kilometres away). Hiram and two others of his brothers and sisters married Wilkinson family members - thus the connection to Palermo, Trafalgar Township. A 4th sister, Prudence and her husband owned a potash factory in Palermo for a few years as well. - Date of Original
