- Postcard mailed to Rev. R.B. Layton in Kentville, Nova Scotia in March 1919 from James Gallaher in Belgium.
- Notes
- Scottish-born trained gardener 42-year-old James Gallaher had emigrated to Canada a year before the outbreak of war to work for the Dominion Experimental Station in Kentville, Nova Scotia. He signed up for war duty in November 1914 serving with the 5th Cavalry Division Supply Column of the Canadian Army Service Corps supplying combat troops with rations, water, petrol, ammunition, and providing transportation.

- Reverse: I wanted to get this horse back with me but can’t. I have had him since 1916. It’s too bad, I would have liked to have him. He has seen some work, for when we got “stuck” sometimes I hitched him in wagon. He has done a few miles. From J. Gallaher, Belgium, 12th March 1919.
