Description
514 Main Street. Built in 1856. This house was the home of Charles Williams, patriarch of the second generation of Williams. It may have been built for Charles by his son-in-law Moffat Forester, who later became a doctor and had a practice in Acton. Charles lived in this house until his death in 1889 when he left it to his daughter Lydia (1840-1916). Lydia sold the house to Joseph Beaumont, owner of the Beaumont Knitting Mills and it has remained in the Beaumont family to this date. The house is a 2 storey brick structure with an ornate, symmetrical facade. Brickwork on the building is similar in style to many buildings built by the Williams family around this time. The Present owner of the house is Marie Beaumont.
