newapaper ao we tfciuk in justice to oar readera something ourtit to be said on thin subject certain iutprotimeuta in tillage matter will in all likelihood be earned on during is82 and aa citizena we want at the head of affairs men who art competent to carry on the im prorementa without extravagance either of money taste or comfort jsvery enancillor as well aa the reert ought to be a good mas with practical knowing of municipal matters on one hand and good business tact on the other it i needless to lay that all who lit at the council board ahould take a deep inteiesi in the prosperity of the tillage and ahould be o large hearted aa to serre the beaf intereata of the many rather than of the few acton never had a council to be ashamed vjf yet nor baa it niw and we do not know thatthere will be changes this year though if there an it is lime the electors should mention uamea aa to who is to fill the big chair during 1882and who are toco operat with him bj occupying the little chairs with a hew town hull to be built when the people fcnow a considerable amount of money is to be expended there ought to be tome talk as to hu would be the fiuet men to undtrtaki the contrtcwfor not erery man i capable of handling the peoples ulodtrv other improtemeala will likely be undertaken during the year at the headof our tillage business- we want meit who know bow to be eccouiiail but not mean careful but not stingy liberal but no squanderers let uk hare men of judgment on our council board and let us cbuimsnoe to talk about them now ao that ve shall hare weighedwell thetillagevbeet intereeli and at the polls bo prepared to put the right men in t herig hi place aj great advantage is to bv gained by looking out jour men before the nomination day in this article we mention no names but we tiust our fehowelectors willeoinmence to talk up the matter at once and then is a subsequent issue we will gire the natnet of parties spoken of hecsajrccs savk shils holders of mechanic bank been gratefully appreci ated every other vilbge advance has been bailed with delight and 1 would st oowthsn they all with regard to the town hall bylaw but now sir my pleasure is dampened and wilh s good deal of advene feeling i beard of the action of the council refusing to accept the suggestion of the cutsens committee tory of our village has the council of any year acted thus with regard to soy qoettidn brooght op never before has any council allowed individual sofirtiitj wr other influences to pre- jojioe tbeir food iutit 1 hope the ewmmliof 1881 wilt revoke tjieir hasty ctioo iritfc vioiuity would not beautily our village al touch ai a ballon millltleel the two propertiea in question ate he kame price aud i argue then hit the mill street property is the cheapec for surely front street properly ia more valuable than that 6a the back street but if it be argued that the council desirea to build on the lack streets to beautify them why not procure for 200 less money the property 00 the corner of elgin and church streets i have not yet heard one plausible argu ment to convrfice tue of the superiority of the adiuiapropertyover the ryders either as to position price or title i do sincerely trust the council will rvcind their action and make tie best use of their common sense and sound judgment by selecting the ryder pro perty and thus win sgxin the heady approbation of the
