George McMillan, was my grandfather and a long time resident of Burlington. In his early years he was station master in Haldimand County where my grandmother was raised. He later moved to Burlington with her and raised a son and daughter. I am the daughter of his son, Robert E. McMillan. Gramps lived on Clarke Ave. off Caroline St. He was station master at the Brant St. station that the city is trying to find a home for and served his last years as station master in Aldershot off King Rd.. My grandmother and I would delight in taking his lunch to him in his old lunch pail at this location. I was barely 10 years old and he told me he was station master for 40 years. In his retirement years he was a jovial crossing guard at Glenwood School on Guelph Line. He was a short statured man(barely 4' 10") so you could imagine him running back and forth across four lanes of traffic with the kids to keep them safe. Picture from library brought back memories.
