mrkenxle has joined the rjcjlf and will report tor duty at the end of the school term this month while the board regretted that sir mfk-rt- was being lost to the staff for the present leave of absence was granted to htm for the duration of tlte war and arrangement were made that hut auperannuation paymenu would be carried by the board during id term of active service the sec retary was instructed to write him e appreciation of his service in acton and the wish that war condi tions would permit an early return in a letter to the board mr me- kenzle expressed appreciation of the splendid cooperation he had receiv ed from the board the school property had been greatly improved and was second to none he hoped that continual improvement would be maintained and outlined some of the things that he hoped would be under taken in the future the secretary reported that con tracts and letters of acceptance had been received from all members of the staffs on both schools miss prldham attended the meeting and the prob lems or teacher and board were talked over and ironed out and the staff remains intact miss kelly will teach art in grades 7 and r as veil as her own grade on a trial basin an audi tion with the bandmaster of kneller hall london england he is the son of mrs john gibson and the late john gibson of acton he enlisted in london out three months after war was declared and was attached to the 11th field am bulance in august 1940 he went overseas and in january 1043 was transferred to a canadian divisions band since that time he has been touring england entertaining at army camps on several occasions he has been guest soloist in english churches he plays a bass horn born at bracebrldge norman came to acton with his family when a lad of ten years he attended acton schools and became a member of acton citizens band then under the leadership of mr amos mason it was in acton band that norman soon developed into one of the finest tuba players that the band has ever had he sang in the united church choir and dutsome quartette work and also played in the orchestra under mr chas mason later he played with the lome scots band he was employed for some time before enlist swimmers after frank went into the water ho immediately went under and foiled to come to the sur face his brother uttempted to bring him up but without success und when he fulled hud to go for help
