have been different each year but always the thought and sincerity of our wish for a merry christmashas been the samo its always a pleasant interlude in the routine of the year to pause and think of the many pleasant associaiions and kindly folk one has en counlored through the years and christmas seems to provide the opportunity of giving that greeting of good will which might otherwise go after this elapse of time we still do not say we have quit smoking but the desire for smoking evil smel ling cigars that were getting higher in price and not improving in odortts not as strong as it one into positions that are to say the least farreaching some months ago we wrote regarding the com position of the material given on neighborly news over cbl every sunday morning our good friend don fairbairn who scans the ontario find quebec weeklies of course found iho item in our editorial column you who listen to this broadcast heard his invitation for the editor to take over some sunday morning when he has to be away you who read these columns noticed that wo accepted his offer with the reservation that some week he would write our editorial columns since that time we might tell you that there has been some correspondence and a couple of telephone calls when we were in the city one of the dates for the exchange of work has been set don will be away the week of january 25th and either the editor or a member of the staff of the free press will attempt to put on the broadcast we ve been mixed up on var icus occasions in arranging for broadcasts but up tc the present we haven t actually participated put on january 25th there ii likely be a pinch hit ter for don fairbairn from those important places which he outside the city the only part of the deal which remains to be concluded is the date don fairbairn is to write the editorials we have given him a choice of almost any date we have told him how much material i required and wo have given him the deadline for editorial material for any week when we receive definite assurance from him that he will take on our broadcast for one week ae will be specific about january 25 in the meantime we are holding that weekend open be ctuse we wouldn t want to disappoint don in his tiavelling arrangements for either holidays or business and we know when he gets around to it the editorial columns of the free press will have a guest writer and thetour readers wtll cnoy the change of diet in the meantime the correspond ence is still continuing and we are getting details fiom officials erf the canadian broadcasting cor poration regarding the january q5 date and the assurance of co operation which we assure all that we w 1 1 need the good old days may have seemed better back in 1902 fcvakn the immxie
