dublin wi left from the post office corner in two buses for their annual spring jaunt the acton group visited the ford history to shopping highlight dublin wi annual bus tour staff photo plant at oakville a caonttngi factory and the hamilton botannical gardens the dublin group visited welland and st catharines touching several points of interest in this area thirtysix members were in the acton group lovver photo 38 in the dublin group top tuesday morning june 12 dub lin womens institute ladies and a few friends numbering in all 37 left on their annual days outing by bus from the acton post office travelling down provincial high way no 25 along the queen eliz abeth highway by way of burling ton beach the bus went along no 8 highway to the village of jordan here is located the jordan historic al museum which was established by the people of the community and jordan wines ltd and was officially opened for visitors in the year 1953 a tour of this building was of great interest to the indies where all kinds of legal documents kitchen utensils furniture guns bayonets tools books clothing spinning wheels looms and a groat many other articles used by the pioneers were on display the building is a twostorey brick and is kept in a xery order ly and immaculate condition and upon checking over the register the names of visitors from many different points were noted the custodian in charge very gracious ly accompanied the visitors and explained the history of the var ious articles following the trip through the museum the ladies unpacked their dinner at the picnic tables under the trees nearby and everyone en joyed a hearty meal following the lunch the bus wended its way through st cath arines and on to welland there tfce ladies toured the factory of do minion fabrics which was most interesting about two hours was allowed for the ladies to shop in the stores in welland after which trio bus went on its way to chip pewa park a beautiful wellkept park and a bounteous supper was prepared at the picnic tables on the return trip a stop was made at a point nine miles west of- welland where a bronze plaque was placed on the foundation of an old house marking the spot whore laura sword brought the news to colonel fitzgibbon that the amer ican rebels were coming a short distance further on the beautiful deceu falls were visited a short distance from st catharines the ladies were shovn the docks which j were very interesting as four boats passed through the canal during the stay of an hour or so home ward bound the bus arrived back inacton about 1030 pm with a tired but happy load the day had been a warm sunny day the scenery unexcelled and one recalled the poets musing what is so rare as a day- in june then if ever come perfect days ross moyer the bus driver again accompanied the ladies as he has on previous outings and his care ful driving was appreciated by ev eryone supper ceremony end iodk season a delicious pot luck supper was served when the lakeside chapter iode held its last meeting of the season last week although the ev ening was hot the air conditioning in the legiion made the setting for the meal nnrd meeting most com fortable
