situated georgetown will live on and on one would judge after a glance at the 40odd paintings done through the village on saturday by mem bers of the five counties art as sociation for on that day the club mem bers ftomthalton peel wellington waterloo and duiferin counties re corded on canvass nearly every point of the villages beautiful landscape including paintings of the ruins of a deserted lime kiln the rows of little houses along the streets the fields rich ufcfr- yellow grain the flowing brook and the rolling surrounding farmland the milton art club headed by mrs joyce henry played host to the touring group- from other counties for this months trip next month the group will make a sirnilar tour to rockwood where more village scenes will be captur ed on canvass after lunch the members struck out for the subject of their choice and after three hours of sketching and painting returned to the small hckll in thg irillngo tck display thpil works of art two members- of the group gordon counties art club took part in the day of sketching at limehouse saturday and the results were very gratifying ac ording to all officials two of those who spent the afternoon in limehouses picturesque region wre mrs b coverdale and mrs h church milton staff photo two paintings of the same subject looked a lit- le different when their artists brought them to gether for comparison but the general theme of the subject was still quite evident mrs wallace gallagher of laurel left and mrs roy henry of aailton right exhibit their paintings of the old de serted lime kilns at limehouse sum photo the living beatjty of picturesque limehouse will live forever op the canvasses displayed at the close of an afternoons painting and sketching by 40 members of the five counties art club following their sketching trip to the village saturday mrs robert dredge and joyce haslam show their work crafts popular through district the sketching trip held by the five counties art association in limehouse last saturday was by no means unique the event was one of many under the supervision of the community programs branch of the ontario department of ag riculture all year round during trie winter of course there are the night schools run in dependently but still under the watchful eyes of lloyd winshall of the department in town the oil painting classes have beeh the most popular hobby which carries on all year round active community art groups are functioning in acton milton cal- edon east cooksvulcramira fer gus guelph kitchener orangeville and preston as members of the five counties art association they have sent along some of their best canvasses to the annual exhibition which was held this spring in kit chener the year before it was in acton art agenda for the summer in cludes four sketching trips v first in elora in june the second last weekend in limehouse the third august 11 in rockwood and the fourth september 8 in ayr floor loom weaving courses have been held during the past vear in milton oakville and stratford a course will be held in acton in the fall if enough register burlington and oakville also have bids in for the floor looms for classes there mid a weaving seminar is plan ned for the fall there is a weaving guild in georgetown a track and field committee is also organized under the same sup ervision and junior olympiads are planned bob brayshaw of the ac ton ymca is one of those in charge in october jhere is to be a trav elling leathcrcraft exhibit which will be of interest here other arts and crafts which have less of a following in this town are litepuppetry courses and orchestral course next week at the oac guelph the leaders institute will provide more trained teachers for courses as the interest grows steadily throughout this area courses
