pagkfovr the acton free press acton ontario zs v thursday august mrd im letter to the editor- complains of police and leadership here to the editor we have long heard what the glenlea subdivision has had to say but have as yet to hear of any action cobblehill subdivision it you have a horse andousgy it would be interesting for the people of ac ton tocomeandsee but it not do not drive as the road will shake your car to bits and the police will be waiting at the bottom to give you a ticket for any defects in stead of patrolling the streets and stopping the cars from double parking oh the main streets or helping people cross the streets as they do in other towns in the acton free press of aug- ust is there was a writeup about trie intersection at mill and main nand the mayors point of view i must say that i fully agree with the mayor on this point but on the other hand i must agree with the other side if the police in this town have nothing else to do than drive up aiid down warn their friends and give others tickets this is a statement given me by one of our own socalled con stables it seems to me that they could stand at the corner and help women and children cross and pre vent these so costly accidents after all i know of no other town that pays so high a tax and gets such small returns it seems to me that it is time that the home owners had a say in what goes on in this town after all if wc pay over two hundred dollars taxes and the only thing that we seem to get for our money is the smell of the tannery and a lot of excuses why industry is kept out and our taxes remain so hijjh lets look at this town in a sens ible light and not at what big shots get for doing things their way why arc not the children protected in going and coming from school a policeman standing with his head in someones car window is certain ly not protection why are the sidewalks not cleared and why the sidewalk leading up to the school not sanded in fact where is our money goine there is a new year coming and i say now it is time wc hnd a change surely there is someone in this town with backbone enough to run for public office and run this town right if men arc put in by acclam ation they are cither exceptionally good or exceptionally bad look at uic state of this town and then judge your men by this standard and lets bouscclcan cecil f kidd personal notes of actoniam
