bv more than 700 people who gathered at vermilion park alberta to pav tribute to miss alice keith matron and superin tendent of the vermilion munici pal hospital for the past 36 ears miss keith was born and raised in acton it nasi the largest gathering of ili kind hi the history- of- vermil ion and district and the first oc casion at w hich people from east and west north and south as well us tow nsfolk all joined to honor one of their citizens miss keith retired from her du ties at the end of september while her future plans are inde finite it is thought she will con tinue to reside in vermilion miss keith graduated from the roal alexandra hospital in ed monton in 1919 following gradu ation she remained on the roal alexandra staff until she i imp to vermilion to the new l built mu nicipal hospital nurse keith remained there un till 1929 when she returned to the staff of the roal alexandra in the fall of that same car she went to the university of toronto for a course in public health and joined the department of public health of toronto as a public health nurse she remained in to ronto until 1932 when she was per suaded to return to vermilion mrs hilda cross presented the guest of honor with a beautiful basket of flowers on behalf of the graduate nurses association a gift from the hospital board fol lowed dr c w stephens gave miss keith a purse of 1 600 as a gesture of appreciation for her service the purse was accompanied by a scroll on which were listed the names of her w ell w ishcrs the gathering alone just seeing so many friends would have been sufficient
