time preceding the ded- loatlpn service the regular church service was held in the auditorium it was a service con duccd jointly by several mem tars of the onkvillebroniemh ton camp of the gideons and several member of fhc christian business mens committee of oftkvillc g mcallister was the leader of the service 6tan wright of feped prayer and tom jeremiah delivered a sincere sermon on trjc subject of the visit of nlcod emus loleausby night h rout iqttge iccf ifltf staging and how drd wcsj played tbe occompani rrjents for the hymns while the audience wag tuutfiqbjing for the regular church service the mus ic of the orgap in the chapel could be hoard in the auditor ium ovee the public address sys tem this music played with beamfful expression by bernard sfrubfolc of the manor staff was greatly enjoyed mr mcal lister called on warden d sar gent at this time who officially turned the chapel over to the ministerial association dedication service from the auditorium the con grcgotlon moved to the new cpupcl for the service of dcoic atlon this beautiful little chapel with its communion table put pit and lectern and us lovely stained glass windows is semi circular in shape and scats 75 persons the service was con ducted by three ministers belong ing to the ministerial association fmiltonrcvd a powellrec tor of grace anglican church rev j l graham minister of st pauls united church and rev j k l mcgown minister of knox presbyterian church mr powell opened the scmcc with prayer ana a familiar hymn tyas sung two portions of scrip ture were read by mr graham these were part of chapter eght of the first book of kings sad as the scripture lesson from e old testament and port of chapter 21 of st matthews gos pel as the scripture lesson from the mew testament in the act ual dedication or the chapel mr mcgown read passages from the bible and these were interspcrs- j ed with prayers led by mr c gown the congregation repeated j lit unison the apostles creed when mr mcgown read the call to dedication the congregation gave its consent by repeating the word amen at appropriate in i tervnls then came a prayer for god s blessing on the newly dedicated chapet and this was followed bv the lord s prayer recited in un son at this point a very fine solo a temple use world mav not see was sung by thy well known radio singer wlsfeart campbell of toronto and was a beautiful addition to the rever ent and impressive sen ice just completed another familiar hvmn was lung and h benediction pro nounced bv mr graham mrs r wright the organist and choir leader at knox presbyterian church in milton was the tal anted and accomplished organ 1st for all the musical numbers in the service and the lovely or- san thai added so much to the lomly of the service had been looped for this very special ser vice by paul barber of george town many friends or the residents from mton oalcvllle george town and other points attended the service these included mrs mary pcttit former warden of the county of halton now retvc of milton reeve douglas sar gent warden of halton county and mrs sargent ond reeve fred tilly of oakvillc member ot the manor board band concert too from the chapel the residents returned to the auditorium to attend a band concert played for them by the qakvwe citizens band bandmaster frank locks ley conducting this was a case of old friends in new surround j ings for although the oakvillc band has played many fine con ccits for the residents through the years this was the first oc coslon on which the band bad played in the new auditorium the numbers selected were some that had proved to be popular at the 25 band concerts that this band had played last summer since these numbers contained many favorite old songs thev were ideally suited to the ustcj of their listeners the program began with the stirring march under the double eagle and closed with the loclv old hymn now the day is end cd several medleys were played among them the charm of the waltz a medley of favorite old time waltzes and a medley ol stephen adams compositions the catchy popular song the i naughty lody of shady lanl written in honor of a nineday old bah was also included the residents proved by their applause how glad they hid been to sec again these old incndsin the oukvtllt citizens band and how eagerly they would iwut more concerts throughout the winter months special treats the residents have enjoyed two special treats recently for two of their suppers thev were vcrved ulh delicious mushrooms donated bv the tangmeie mush then at supper time on hal lowccn the lahks in the dining room looked very festive with special halloween favors sent by the november group of st christopher s women s church year 01 burlington these favors were oranges which by means of raisins and toothpicks had been made to look like pumpkin faces each miniature pumpkin sported a cap and collar made of late paper doilies and the whole effect was must attract uc the residents gave a hearty round of applause at supper time in appreciation of both treats the dining room use if was given a halloween touch by means of a large jackolante rn made by the chcr e a berg ebeneser entertains a number of ladies who came jo ihe manor for the first tune as a group but who had become firmly established friends when thev left the manor entertained the residents on
