undertook to do a fire map of the actonjfire area showing the location of all the buildings and water resources mrs william hocy drew a map 5 by 7 showing the lots and con cessions and when completed this is to toe placed in the acton fire hall j attend conference judy britten and don swack- hiuner attended the march con ference at guelph oac as jun ior farmer delegates represent ing halton county in april we held- a dance at ballinafad hall with music sup plied by the midnighters al though- we lost 19c a good time was enjoyed by all in the same month the junior institute sent a cheque for 25 to the canadian cancer society tour tannery in may the juniors enjoyed a tour of beardmore co acton each member was presented with a leather key case and a delicious lunch was served joy hayward a delegate to the hoosier recreation workshop in lafayette indiana gave an inter esting talk of her trip joy was one of four chosen by the pro vincial directors to represent ontario a semiformal dance was held in may at paradise gardens and many of the acton juniors ut- tended the enjoyable evening in june we- started t6 sell fire extinguishers ifor the walton safe ty council t our july meeting took the form of a hay ride followed by a wie ner roast and shishkebab at huy wardsr j on august 8 a group of the jun- lors travelled to wasaga beach for a day of swimming and sun bathing for supper we barbecu ed hot dogs fair month september was fair month at acton fair the girls set up a dis play entitled harvest festival and the boys set up a junior far mer exhibit displaying fire ex tinguisher ur fire map slow moving vehicle signs aluminum canes and our junior farmer sweater we also set up a booth selling hot dogs donuts coffee imtovr vr edin mills we ditfbur heist we were defeat an enjoyable week representing hnlton county at the junior farmer camp at geneva park on lake couchich- ing near orillia at our september meeting we listened to a record by dr imur- ruy banks titled what to do un til the psychiatrist comes car holly many ortlre actonnnlorrpar ticipated in a car rally in nov ember don swackhnmer shir- lev llangevin and joy jjayward placed second out of approxim ately 20 entries the rally start ed at milton iplaa and ended al rattlesnake point with a wiener roast to iollsw as a christmas project the girls donated 25 to the sick childrens hospital in toronto anniversary of ash- grove wi- sophisticates the silverwood- 4h club met at mrs hendersons for their third meeting on saturday morning february 26 the members de cided on n name for their group the sophisticates were taught correct tafcle setting and man ners the- group made tomato soup and welsh rarebit and then all sat down and enjoyed their el- joxtsalong- witb a cake- and ice cream next meeting march 5 cmurcmu ton by becoming the 1966 provin cial champions in the ladies trio competition the juniors presented jean and john mclean and jean and don tvlur tin with wedding gifts a number
