fr lets play bridge by bill coat tricounty tournament many local duplicate bridge players attended the tricounty bridge tournament in guelph the local bridge club was well represented at the sectional tour nament held injjuelph jast week end this is the fourth year the tricounty tournament which operates under a sanction from the american contract bridge league attendance records were shattered in all events i cannot give the actual ranks obtained by all the players but i will indicate in some cases when they were above average above average in duplicate bridge means that a pair was better than at least one half the total number of players friday night was the mixed pairs with 27 tables 54 pairs in competition duke wilson and miss marjory mackenzie of georgetown had an above aver age game while your columnist and his wife didnt fare as well mr and mrs clayton barbour of erin also played in the mixed pairs and were just on the aver age score bob remington of ac ton partnered with mrs mary manning of eden mills arid mrs r dickson playing with mrs smith both of erin were above average in a ninetable non mas ters pairs game the same night saturday was the open pairs and local players showed very well this event is run in two sessions a qualifying round was in the afternoon with the final round iivthe evening a total of 109 pairs entered this game lou bertasson and harry frost of milton came first in their sec tion in the afternoon but were out of the money in the evening your columnist playing with his father jack coats was second in their section in the afternoon and held on to come out eighth overall in the evening mike lor- usso and lloyd keir of george town were fourth their way in the afternoon game bob reming ton and duke wilson also tried tnc open pairs but did not qua lify in the evening there was a consolation game mrs gloria coats played with mrs mary manning in one section while miss marjory mackenzie and miss olive logan also of georgetown put together an above average game in another consolation sec tion in the team game on sunday this area was represented by a team whose members were bob remington duke wilson mike lorusso and jim kabul i do not have the results of sunday game as 1 write this column en good- results are obtain ed on hands played at a low le vel here is one from the open pairs game in which my father and i got the second best with the same purpose- he told the pupils that three words told what the hag means the first word is sign which means a country has a unique flag which ib recognized as that ot the particular country it stands 1 for the second word was united which means a tlag is a sign of unity in a country the third was noble which means a hag is a dsign ol everything good in each country the first letter in
