neighborliness withstood all manner of strain and stress es ithat would spell ruination for contem porary versions of the same character fabric the depression years produced some inventive young hellions and the second line had its share when a lean loping canine pet of four such urchins i female nabbed the wrights sunday roast and a lemon pie in a single raid news of the shocking crime out to be a mild repri mand with an undercurrent of amuse ment plus the butter tart treatment one for each sinner including the pilfering pooch on a street renowned for its good cooks no one whomped up more delicious butter tartj than edith wright and no one was more lavish with handouts to youngsters with bottomless breadbaskets for an exsecondliner commission- ed to write this years chamber of includes milton aoton esqucsing and nassagaweya would become completely sep arate and autonomous from a music standpoint there will be little change since both sections have been inde pendently operating their festi vals for several years from a management standpoint how ever there will be a change since the management of both sections has been coordinated through association secretary- treasurer mrs eileen martin o milton a major reason lor me change is the tremendous growth in the town ol oakville where more than 5000 youngsters took part this season in music lesti- vajs because ol the increased number ol pupils involved it be came necessary to use larger quarters for the festivals church halls and in one instance the club galaxie the result was a tremendous increase in expense it is now probable that in oak- ille anv music competitions will he conducted lluugh the schools rather than through a separate association and it is possible there will he partial sponsorship ot the competitions in her report to the annual meeting secretary trcasurei ei leen martin stated since 1928 residents ol halton cuuiitv hae dedicated theiiisehes to the piu- posc ol the association which is as set out in the constitution the encouragement ol vkii music in the schools olt the counts year alter cu this festival has drawn lueli praise from adjudicators for the qual ity of performance which
