celebrate canadas 100th bfrthday in acton next year call for a fourday fall fair tuesday evening acton fall fair board agreed the fair would- be the hub for actons main centennial celebration this can only be made possible with the cooperation of other organized groups from acton and district during the tuesday meeting r r parker and brendan aherne from the acton centen nial committee discussed the proposal with the fall fair board and fair board ladles and tentative plans were apt- proved it is planned to hold the four- day celebration thursday fri day saturday and sunday sep tember 14 15 16 and 17 in pros pect park and community cen tre tentative plans call for the thursday to be preparation day be hub celebration for the program on friday af ternoon it is hoped to have a live- tv show to include an educa tional program which would be staged for school pupils friday evening the usual arena performance will be held with many added attractions and saturday would be the regular agriculture fair in the park to include midway and other fea tures plans also call for a mass church service to be held sun day morning in the community centre and a monster band tat- too in the park in the afternoon to wind up the fourday cele bration although nothing final has been reached on these plans further meetings will be held and at this time iv is hoped or ganized groups in acton and dis trict will volunteer to assist in the planned program decoration day sunday parade service planned people of acton and district and former residents will con verge at fairview cemetery sun day afternoon to remember their loved ones and decorate graves during the annual decor ation day service a parade headed by three bands will form at the cnr station at 215 pm and march to fairview cemetery where a brief outdoor service will be held under the auspices of the acton ministerial association legionnaire william nicolak will be parade marshal and will lead the first section of the parade followed by acton citi zens band other sections will be headed by the guelph pipe bapd and hespeler junior pipe band another feature will be tillspnburg legion color party returning a visit paid that le gion branch by acton legion choraliers taking part in the parade will be guides brownies cubs acton council firelighters and representatives of various or ganizations during the service at the cemetery mavor l a dubv will welcome the gathering and the call to worship invocation will be given by rev a h meken- zie rev ritchie momurray will give a bible reading followed by prayer by rev dwight en- gel scripture will be read by rev stanley gammon and the address given by rev samuel m thoman benediction will be pronounced by mr gammon at uic conclusion of the brief service graves alex orrs home economics classes were display ed friday alternoon at the high school liming the sixth annual lasliion show principal f a hansen welco med the interested parents and students during assembly and reviewed the work entailed in the home economics class mas ter ol ceremonies fur the show was theresa marzo who ex plained the dillerent stvlcs to the audience is the girls parad ed on stage judy duycr and lorraine ser vos played in accordion duct as well as individual numbers and marianne coles sang a solo included in the designs were kill sew i ni kisliions modelled by grades sia
