manufactured goods ag- ricultmal and othei products in lact the survival of our demociatic foim of government is dependent upon its abilitv to compete dficienth with the governments of other nations our future success in the com petitions mentioned above will depend upon oui abilitv now to graduate thinking professional people we need people who possess a vision who can think independents and housewife will make little use of biology or modern math ematics in tho kitchen but she will be infinitely more helpful to her children when thoy dis cover earthworms in the back yard or have trouble with their homework sa farmer by the same reason ing will make little use of hav ing studied world politics while operating a combine but he will be able to cast his ballot much more wisely and to intelligently lltlfil his duty as a- citizen in short specialist training is essential and desirable nowadays but people need a broad general education in order to keep the modern world from spinning
