lurnect books the regional board is to provide book drop units to thoselibraries who wish to use them they can be placed in convenient locations to receive books when die library is clos ed the units from north halton a committee of the south central regional library board is to look into a system which would make informat ion available on tv screens at any member library in the reg ion which covers the counties of brant halton and went worth the data t of books or magazines would be stor ed on videotape at a central point and could be dialed to appear on tv screens across the system if the page is re quired for further study the user presses a button and a printout machine at the cen tral location reproduces the page which is then mailed to the user there are many other sides of this operation to be investi gated it is a long term project with great potential for mak ing information easily avail able to tuderit and adults al ike in the near future masses of information will be required and this system could give member libraries of the region an efficient means of meeting the need the february meeting of the south central regional lib rary board took place in ha milton clark johnson was el ected chairman for a second term and e buckerfield was elected vice chairman the board approved its budget for 1967 which included provision for a number of new services boards planning new librar ies or renovations to- existing libraries will have available to them the services of an archi tect specializing in library con struction this service is not intended to replace architects hired by boards to draw up plans and supervise the work but -to- provide free of charge the advice of a specialist in the library field the south central library regional board has allotted
