day in less than three hours and adjourned to inspect the new fire truck which arrived from quebec with fire chief mick holmes at the wheel at 940 pjm the sparkling new truck a s2199s expenditure 8100 of which is covered by grants through the emergency meas ures organization also has a twoway radio installed for an additional 715 the town now has two well equipped fire trucks and a rural truck is also installed in the fire hall a letter was received from esquesing council inviting a delegation from acton council to meet with them on monday march 20 at 8 pm for the pur pose of discussing the town dump and its possible reloca tion number two committee wlh attend the meeting in an effort to work out some solu tion for the rapidly unusable dump below glenlea subdivis ion councillor g w mckenzie said he made a personal poll of people in the glenlea sub division and he didnt find one person in favor of keeping the dump in its present location he was questioned by council lor tyler chairman mrs ray arbic reported last week at a meeting of the local cancer society that captains are se lected and canvassers are be ing contacted the canvassing will begin april 1 with the ma jority carnival has centennial angle this year the nowannual school car nival at the arena will have a special centennial flavor next wednesday- march 22 in the usual costume contest old- style clothing is the joint discus sions possibly acton and mil ton could continue members jgrecd to place georgetowns reply as the first item on the next agenda with the meeting scheduled for acton on april 12 the subject of a county wel fare administrator was intro duced but members noted ac ton clerkmanager jack mcgea- chie who was absent through illness would be able to offer more detailed information at a continued at guelph and georgetown acton ought have to seek accommo dation in milton for pupils re quiring training not offered in acton the discussion wore on to a general revie o t cost o education at the municipal lev el and mayor oufcy suggested a per cartage on income tax for education would be more equitable than continuing the burden on property which af fects many on fixed incomes milton i
