110 dolls precious antiques shown at lakeside chapter centennial tea over 175 enjoyed the centen nial tea monday afternoon and evening at the home of mrs marguerite taylor willow st the unique occasion was spon sored by the lakeside chapter of the iodje and regent mrs cecil welles welcomed guests at v the door the attractive older home was decorated upstairs and down with flowers and cen tennial flags chapter mem bers guided callers to the tea room centred with a beautiful ly decorated table and to the displays upstairs there were 116 dolls on ex hibit in a room upstairs they had been assembled from some of the members daughters col lections and a few friends there were three very old dolls one estimated at over 75 years old was a large china- headed doll dressed in pink which has been rejuvenated for mrs joe hurst mrs j inghs a chapter member showed the charming doll dressed in fragile yellow silk which she played with as a girl mrs o morans childhood doll wore blue velvet with a match ing tam three dolls from germany were shown by the bollert fam ily and there were dozens of labelled figures representing many countries which belong ed to mrs e footitt ruth ann leatherlahd kathy hinton terry dowding and kathleen dills a large stuffed doll which won a first prize at the cn e made by mrs jim dills of milton was- also shown among the most intriguing to the many visitors were a jap anese doll with a wardrobe of changeable wigs and two span- ish reversible dolls family heirlooms brought for display by a few of the in fibers and friends provided added interest collects old eye glasses bits of wool materials for quilt patches pocket books for ser vice men some of the beautiful big toys being made to sell at next years bazaar were also shown they are the product of the tal ented hostess mrs taylor many of the members of the chapter wore oldfashioned cos tumes some of the dresses like mrs w mlddletons crisp black had actually been worn by members of the family most of the others have been made for centennial year a unique combination ofboth factors was mrs velma wests crisp white sheer blouse new ly made to top a relatives cro cheted wedding camisole with it she wore a blue checked skirt and matching hat hostess mrs taylor who greeted the callers in a long gown in the afternoon found she was a little too busy for its swirling skirt she changed for the evening into a shorter rose and grey cut velvet gown of the 20s topped with a feath ered boa with many of the replicas made of modern crisp cotton members wore their grand mothers watches on chains and jewelled pins the committee in charge of the tea with regent mrs nel- les included miss alma braida mrs c leishman mrs g cur- rie mrs w middleton mrs j mann and mrs taylor those
