stimulat ing he was most impressed with the report from the local cam paign convener and was so pleased with the efforts of lo cal high school students in their fundraising walkin for he cause that he plans to have their efforts and pictures pub lished in the cancer society news bulletin mr grimes spoke bneflv on the work of volunteers and ex plained how even the smallest rce helpful act snowballs to help the cause of the total con trol of the dimiase everv vear ihe canvassers makers of dres sings drivers babv fitters in- numerable schemes and acts m unselfishly performed make possible the care of patients and much research in the field in his talk on volunteer ser vice he asked each person pros ent to make one little extra ef fort as their centennial project all donations of service were precious to the succevs of the cancer program but none meant so much as the checkup on ones own personal health this included the persuading of friends to do the same the or der- of importance in the many progressive countries there is very little volunteer service donation consequently nowhere in the world is there better care and treatment of the cancer patient or more pro gressive research programs be ing carried on than in canada naturally it followed the audi ence felt justly proud of local volunteer efforts combining two years vaca tion time mr grimes left the tokyo congress on his va cation trip to kyoto thailand siam hawaii and then home it was of this trip he showed his pictures commented on the different wavs of life in differ ent countries and how pleased he was to get
