other most enjoyable bus trip this time to tte beautiful city of london wfclcn many members tad not visited before a morning fox mtng over the countryside at the beginning bat it soon cleared way to allow the pleasant view of the beauty of toe autumn color and the productive farm lands along the way after one stop midway for a coffee break the next stop was city ball from where jim cas- lurn led members in his car to the senior cluaens centre here they were cordially wel comed by other members of the recreation committee and many senior cltiwns the centre ts quite new spon sored by the krwants club s is wen lighted has no steps at all inside or out has alt the facilities and rarntsntngs needed for toe senior ciusens to enjoy their leisure hours they were taken to a luge room with attractively sat small tables and were served hot tea or coffee as preferred mrs mchale welcomed the acton group and told them what plans had been made tor their enjoyment alter eating lunch which had been taken along they went about the centre viewing the htridtcraft in the craft room the games in toe games room where most settled to play cards shuffleooard or just enjoy a rest or a walk tn the grounds members of the recreation committee put them through a few games etc rl davidson called for the square dances to the music of piano and drums anyone wishing a cup of tea or coffee were given it free during um frftft roootii later they returned to the bus and eere taken on a guided tour to the new airport the fanshawe park and dam past the univer sity ot western ontario and many points of interest and many of the beautiful parka the members eapeclally enjoyed the glimpses of storybookgardens with its traditional fairyland settings after a lengthy drive they re turned to the centre where the ladles of the london golden age club served a dtlictous turkey dinner complete with trimmings and homemade pie the tables were cleared away as soon as possible and they were entertained with music and singing etc but had to leave be fore it was finished to get started on the drive home they were rolling merrily along when ted tyler pulled over to the side of the highway and announced the bus had a flat tire and he would have to go tor another bus as the night was warm and all were comfortable no one minded the delay tn fact it only brought more jokes and fun mrscossar continued to lead tn a happy sing song which went on till they land ed back in acton at midnight ah had enjoyed the wonderful trip and the sincere friendly hospit ality ot the other clubs now members are rather en vious of the clean comfortable bright centre the london senior cittxens are enjoying watch anxiously as robert little school children pile onto tylers bus for an excursion to expo staff photo employ of milton the club annually pre sents 100 to the girl from acton or milton high school who pro ceeds to higher education last years winner was victoria newton of acton successful fire prevention week v fire prevention week in huton county was again a busy one and members of the halton fire pre vention bureau reported it was a highly successful celebration at their october meeting held in milton last week the bureaus member depart ments in acton georgetown hilton and oakvlue carried out their own ore prevention pro gram with the assistance of the halton bureau in planning and literature milton firefighters beld a successful open house and film night at the fire hall and con ducted drills in town and district schools and institutions such as the hospital halton manor and ontario school for the deal the oakvule fire department had a busy week of promotion which in cluded library displays and school drills and culminated in the official opening of the new central fire station
