friday evening when a trio on staff since opening three staffers at brookvine public school have a record of eight years of service at the school principal kenneth trow bridge teacher leoodutfleldand custodian stanley robinson were all on the staff when it opened in the fall of 1060 mr robinsons connection goes back even fruther than eight year he spent 10 years on the township school board and re- slgmd from the boardjust before the school opened to take the position of custodian so he was also active in the planning tor the original school mrs shirley zehr was also on the original staff and now is a part time relief teacher although ihe left the school once to work at the boards other school at campbell vlue brookvine has also taken on an international flavor thisterm harold mahatoo comes from trinidad mrs joy tinker was trained in england and miss esther sutherland was born in england and taught la alberta for one year before joining the brookville staff three board members also have the distinction of being on the board since the schools in ception in i960 jr mcphail ah gibson and horace blyth 37 staff at brookville brookville public school has a staff of 31 plus six supply declare the schools bright newaddltlan open the ceremony begins at 830 ptn in the school auditorium on friday and the public is cord ially lmifxdvto attend mr born- hold wenknown throughout hal- ton countyjms a leading educator ispresently regional superinten dent of education for the mid western ontario area and works from the department of educa tions kitchener branch office the addition includes tour gen eral classrooms a science room kindergarten library home economics and industrial arts rooms plus the boiler room nurses quarters staff lounge two store rooms and washrooms it was completed duringthe sum mer and has been occupied since the start of the fall term it brings the school to a total of 21 classrooms and allowed the staff to institute a new senior school system this year the grades 6 7 and 8 students have been transferred to the new wing at the rear of the existing school and a halftime rotary system has been adopted this year prin- dpa kf trowbridge is proud of his school but especially happy with the senior school innovation as it allows the students a better education and better preparation for high school and allows the teachers to concentrate on spec ialised subjects such as science physical education geography creative english art history and music i think it is an excellent school and the people of the town ship can be quite proud of what they have provided here mr trowbridge noted the fact the entire teaching staff of last year returned to the school this fail denoted their satisfaction with the school management he said the principal also praised the board for its decision to imple ment the home economics and industrial arts program right in the school in former years senior students travelled to ac ton regularly for instruction in these specialized subjects the library room is the show- place of the school bright and cheerful in appearance it con tains shelving for up to 6000 volumes of books plus a display area for childrens projects work tables reading tables and a separate workroom for research and study the nurses room in the new addition is a small room outfitted with coaches and a desk when it is not being used by the nurses teachers are welcome to use the private quarters tor speech ther apy and remedial reading work and eventually perhaps tor guid ance counselling the room is helping to fulfill one of the prin cipals desiresmore individual attention to students as compared to the old style grouping and regimentation au roonis in the school are equipped with a public address system the whole addition is neatly uid out along both sides of a ions centre corridor and the admtlnnal rooms are joined to the existing school by a sloping rampway to separate it from the primary and junior school sections and provide maximum sunlight for all the classrooms while the addition wasoccupled a the start et the tall term the industrial arts roomlssuutelng assembled there was a holdup on the furniture and some of the tools have wet to arrive the senior boys are in the meantime taking instruction in drafting in one of the regular classrooms this year thanks to the senior school program students are be ginning to become involved in specialized programs that are helping to round out their overau education the topics that dont fan under the old three rs system house leagues have been formed for competitive aports and events clubs are springing up tor various interest groups and they include hobbies music physical education and drama groups the final period of the day is usually reserved for such
