bouquets for edelweiss help miss e atkey and the girls athletic association of acton high would like to extend a big thank you to the following people for their gifts and help in making the edelweiss ball of nov 4 such a tremendous success mz bennett public school blue springs nursery cameo shop morris drug store paul- ettes sports corner caroline nurseries watsons restaurant miladys hairstyles mrs dun can mrs h orr mr c rog- nvaldson former students mrs m laszlo and the many students of adhs from the board were presented and the matter was further look ed into twentyone members of pro ject action will receive a special card as an award for service these members were notified of the award many other members are on a trialperioddurlngwbich they must do some work in order to get a card there are many advantages to having a card and these are explained at the meet ings plans were discussed for a christmas project this year skills in vouey ball with a game afterwards other games to be taught will be basketball and badminton at the closing of each event there will be a grand tournament with each team part icipating to see which is the champion so far there has been a large turnout of children from the three schools and it is hoped the inter est will continue throughout the rest of the year the girls are under the super vision of elizabeth atkeyantl sandl slingerland scout news glen lee was invested as a scout at a special ceremony the first one to receive this badge this fall mr dale gartley of the de partment of lands and forests hespeler hq lectured us at thursdays scout meeting he told roe that this was the first time the hespeler dept had re ceived a request from a scout troop starting the evening with a brand new color movie on forest harvesting and reforestation mr gartley explained the benefits derived from good forest man agement and the assistance the department offers the owners of large as weu as small tracts of land the amount of information passed on to us made us all wish we had taken a course in stenography with the written information given to me by mr gartley i hope to type out the requirements for the forest con servationist badge and hand
