lives at brandt phelps 16 and michael wood 18 when the car they were driving was in coll ision with a southbound freight train on five slderoad just north of milton the car was believed travelling west on the esquesing township slderoad when the accident occurred at about 5 pm decem ber 24 at the former mansewood station the unprotected crossing on the main line of the cnr that bypasses milton is marked with a wooden cross arm sign brenda was a grade 11 student at milton district high school active in athletics and described as a good student she had served on the staff of the high school year book she is survived by her parents mr and mrs mel phelps 398 maplewoodcres and sisters claudette gwyneth darlene and a brother john mike was a grade 13 student referred to by the school staff as a good all round stu dent in grade 11 he received the history brenda phelps michael wood award and in 1966 he represented the school on the annual rotary club adventure in citizenship trip to ottawa he was active in athletics playing on the football and basketball teams and serving as president of the high school curling club he is survived by his parents mr and mrs wil liam wood 340 ontario st food and cloth ing and other household articles as usual boxes of fruit are be ing sent to local shutins it was decided to sell tickets for a lucky draw on a beautiful centennial quilt proceeds from a recent sale were gratifying the members of the 4h home- making club were introduced by club leader mrs j mcculloch each girl was wearing the wool skirt and wesut or jumper which she had made and told a few facts about the costume the girls and their leaders are to be congratu lated on the excellent results ob tained through this project work ing with wool norma leslie thanked the lead ers and presented mrs mcculloch and miss pearen with gifts of jew- ellry from girls in appreciation for their help barbara gates played several numbers on the guitar program convener mrs ralph sinclair introducedber friend mrs barbara mcklnnon who demon strated beautiful hand made christmas decorations using much ingenuity her clever fingers fashioned wall hangings door de corations mantel and table pieces which were inexpensive but very professional looking and attract ive she inspired all to attempt to make some of their own decora tions for christmas mrs mcculloch thanked mrs mcklnnon for coming with her demonstration christmas carols were sungand recorded music added to the en joyment of the evening mrs sin clair conducted a contest on christmas uuups which was won by mrs g wallace and mrs ralph mckeown won a contest of a brand name picture contest mrs j mcculloch invited the ladies to her new home in acton or the january meeting following the singing of a christmas carol to close the meet ing a bountiful and delicious pot luck supper was enjoyed by all on behalf of those present mrs a winter thanked the hostess for opening her home and also the con veners for an winning ticket from a container filled with coupons filled out by those who shopped at the store the vivid pink dog a trifle too large for anyones stocking was an attraction for shoppers sev eral were in the store to see who would be the draw winner two languages at joint meeting on wednesday evening of last week both dutch and english groups of the ladles society of the christian reformed church held their joint christmas meet ing the program was partly in english and partly in dutch and was followed by a special christ mas lunch with big al joyce and jack carpenters singing and dancing churchill sunday school concert was fairly well attended on friday evoning mr dobkorr was chairman when a varied program was enjoyed they wore divided into kinder garten primary and junior classes each doing thulr part wo 11 a number of carols woro sung by everyone ah journeyed to tho basemont for an ovunlng of fun santa arrived in time to- groet tho children and present gifts and a treat to all lunch concluded a good night which the children will remember mrs john noar and glon spent last friday with her mother in sholburne mr and mrs charles blnnlo attended the wedding of their limehouse niece glenda lynn best to mr brian oavles who were married in ferndale church in peterbor ough on friday evening and also visited with mrs r wolr of pet erborough churchlu friends will be pleas ed to learn mr elton cole who has beon in guelph general hos pital for noarly two weeks got homo in tlmo for christmas and is convalescing with tho family for christmas mr ward hamilton and son mr and mrs mlko hamilton of georgetown and woo mark and amy lynn visited with wards father mr a hamilton in scar- oorough on sunday neighbors and frlonds will bo sorry to hoar mr albert smith had the
