division and ho served in this capacity from 19s7 to 1053 mr hart is now corps staff officer of the haltonpeel corps he was succeeded by mr john george hargravo who served from 1663 to 1967 both those men are well known to acton residents and under their able leadership the croup has had excellent guidance mr kenneth thomson who was appointed divisional superintend ent in september 1967 is well qualified to continue and sustain the excellent reputa tion the st john ambulance brigade has earned through the years in acton thedivlslon maintains three mobile first aid units for use as first aid posts as part of the service they render on public duties choral festival at knox church has 200 singers in seven groups an estimated s00 jammed knox church sunday evening for the impressive choral festival pre sented by about 200 singers from acton church choirs extra chairs had to be set up to accom modate the appreciative crowd the vocal volume ranged during the evening from the sweetslight sounds of the junior choirs to the reverberating rend ition by all boo of the old hymn all glory laud and honor in introducing the program the rev a h uckenzle com mented that the word of god would be heard and preached through the music the great est instrument of praise is the human voice the presbyterian and anglican church choirs tilled the choir loft flanked on either side in the regular pews by the christian reformed church and baptist church chairs and the legion chorallers the junior choirs filled the front rows in the cen tre of the church the united church choir was seated in the gallery the presbyterian choir with ted hansen at the organ sang the name of jesus and peace beam the baptist choir with char les landsborough playing the piano sang the power and the glory and step east ern star chapter in georgetown and a charter member of the true blue lodge roekwood and the daughters of scotland lodge guelph the boys and girls have been taking lessons in guitar and ac cordion reformed choir were halle lujah christ is risen and alone caspar pauw played the organ there were 45 children in the massed junior choir which sang this joyful eastortlde mrs oakes accompanied them and caspar pauw directed tho final selections involving all the singers brought music from sides front and gallery for a stereophonic effoct they sang fight tho good fight directed by dr elliott before the next program and during the offering the brass quartette played in the gallery jack holmes barry buchanan brian sampson and dr elliott much appreciation was ox- pressed for the excellent pro gram over coffee and cookies served downstairs afterward it was an active evening for a couple of participants caspar pauw played tho organ for the christian reformed church helped direct the
