told the 96 graduates from both acton schools that for youth all tilings were possible there was a great deal to be done and young people can do it hold on to your ideals bo urged thii graduating classos govern your lives so poople count mr balkind reminded his listeners that education doesnt end when they graduate from school he urged toleranco of other points of view and a readi ness to meet people and care for them citing his own heroes in life men uke sir edmond hilary and sir francis chichester who con quered obstacles because they offered a challenge mr balkind put the onus on graduates to accept the challenges the world offered there are many things uke the housing shortage and crowded montal hospitals where change is needed where people who care are essential mr balkind said the long hair some youths wore was their way of challenging accepted beliefs and standards he felt it was up to adults to come up with the answers the speaker was introduced by jean matanlc and appreciation expressed by petermorrisonand susan patrick with a suitable gift the top students from each of the two schools were presented with a trophy from the legion ladles auxiliary bv mrs cord james winner from the robert little school was jack holmes an honorable mention went to jud rody anita i raids took the honor at the mz bennett school mrs ea uclkea represent ig the duke of devonshire chapter of the lode presented ronald mcguln of the robert little and antonya muhar of the mz ben nett school with cash awards for the students showing the most improvement over the school year an honorable mention went to john pauw of the robert little sehool joanne pavjj proposed the toast lothe schools and cathy papluon introduced the head table dennis haroden was the very capable chairman another highlight of the evening was the presentation of giftsfrom both schools to public school board chairman cyril bishop diane bousfleld and jackholmes of the robert little school pre sented a first aid kit on behalf of their school debbie bagby presented an oil painting by george bowman a local artist on behalf of the mz bennett school mr bishop promised it would hang in a place of honor in the new addltiontothe school entertainmentwiso the stu dents and guests had a lively sing song after a roast turkey dinner prepared and served by grade viii mothers under mrs bert hlnton music maestro glen banks tickled the ivories and joined harmoniously with vlce- prlnclpal doug copeland on the singing end henry wlssem thanked the mothers for the banq tot and mrs hlnton replied steven
