of theontarlomun- ldpal association we are involved- and the rush is on f dr residential development that is and we must act wisely and progressively to cope with it t the next few tears will rehire every ounce of experience that is available to deal wtti the pressure of development available lands to the east ofus bramp ton georgetown etc aro now deploted and adon has become the marketplace are we surprised nol what is happening is a natural phen omena and it was bound to affect acton as it has been for years in communities aroundiis regional requirements already are having a profound effect on the part that adon as an existing community will have in the development of tho total area being on the perimeter of two major growth areas wolungtonwatorloo and the metro complex our job will be to look to actons best interests to whatever degree we have control to condition our values to accept what will be an asset to our community and fight those things that could have a detrimental effect on our economy and physical woll being time alone will give us ho answers and while i have always personally felt that an optimum growth for acton would be up to 7500 copulation for a place we all would like to live in we may have to accept some degree more population to cope with the demand factor since adon is a nice place to live we have a bulltln responsibllty lo ac cept the natural growth that comes due to new residents who sottlo here for that one reason alone our job will be to do everything in our power to rotain our present assessment ratio and nd allow new growth o be sub sidised by the long term rosldentsof acton wow development must be self support ing in every aspect of its influence on tho community in this way wo can welcolpo our new citisens ih the proper peraped- ive
