on the priority list was made wednesday to the ontario government by directors of ilic grand river conservation authority meeting in brantford the directors approved a resolution to be sent to prime minister robarts energy and resources minister j r simonctt and provincial treasurer c s macnaughton the resolution was prompted by recent announcements by ontario government spokesmen about cutting down major expenditures in an austerity drive the resolution points out that the five dams were approved by the provincial government in 1966 no action has been taken to start construction because of a holdup in federal government approval each of the two senior levels of government were asked to contribute 37w per cent of the cost of the dams which are planned for locations near west montrose ayr opening lead 2 of spades in the modern style of bidding south opens two no trump with a balanced hand 2224 points in spite of the lack of club stoppers i am in agreement with this treatment since south would have no other way to describe his hand accurately north hesitated quite a while before he raised 2 no trump to 3 west was reluctant to open the club suit so he led his low spade declarers chances are slim in spite of his giltedged twenty six points he has only seven tricks and not much prospect for two more its very hard to show the difference in bidding but no trump hands arc better if the points are in kings queens and jacks while suit contracts are better if the points are in aces and kings here declarer has twenty five of his points in aces another reason most people listen to
