night held at osd in milton there wen 128 enrolled fat 441 work completing 202 projects for an 899 per cent completion record and live of haltont 11 dubs showed 100 per cent completions top honors of the night went to verna thompson chosen the outstanding 4h dub member in halton after completing a record 31 club proje verna received the j e whitelock trophy presented by david boyd of the fciwams dub of the kjnjjsway the caude bain trophy for the most outstanding first year member was presented to paul stewart bui lasby won the halton hog producers trophy for the top membe with less jhan 12 projects completed miss thompsons 4h career was termed remarkable she set a halton record by completing her 31st club this year and in 30 of these had over 750 points she finished first in six clubs second in seven and third in three and has held offices in at least two of these dubs from 1962 to 1967 verna was on the second place interctub grain team in 1964 and third place beef team in 196s her judging abilities can be described by glancing at this years performance she stood first in the county land judging competition fourth in the seed judging and second in the cnte field crop competition the i da award was presented to her in 1964 in the tame year she was named county furrow queen in 1967 verna represented ontario at the national 4h conference in washington besides being active in 441 the has also been an active junior farmer member and attended junior farmer camp in 1966 paul stewart his made the outstanding achievement of being the top member fat the halton 4h holstein calf club with 932 polna although this it pauls only 441 dub this year it must be noted that there were 44 members completing this club he also placed first with hit showbox in the 441 special competition he was second junior in the public sptafcw cornpetitjon held at thstjfcs night program and seventh in the rope halter competition at milton fair hu senior holstein calf placed third and he placed in the first group in showmanship he showed interest throughout the 44s year in that he exhibited hit calf at acton and georgetown fairs at erin fair hit calf placed first not onry this year but in previous years bfll lasby hat been very active in 441 work in hilton county he hat completed 1 1 441 clubsall over 7s0 points this year he placed second in the acton 441 forage dub fifth in the acton 441 calf dub and 15th in the hilton 441 com dub he has placed second on three different occasions and third on four different occasions bill has been president of two 441 dubs in 196s and 1966 in 1966 he was a member of the 14th placed field crop team at interdub competitions and in 1967 on the 23rd placed beef team last year bill reached the apex of his 441 beef club career when he was awarded the queens guineas at the royal winter fair this year bill was president of the acton 441 forage dub the premier dub this year was the halton 441 sheep club whose 11 members scored 100 per cent completion of their protects top 441 secretary of the year was janet hunter commenting on the put years work agricultural representative henry stanley noted the decline in project completions he praised the dub of three class paul stewart mary mcgee and bob mcgee placed first for the halton 441 holstein calf dub this makes three years in a row for this award coming to halton second fifth and 7ih places also went io the county in the beef classes doug gardhouse captured top position in the shorthorn steer dass with david mckinnon in second place dougs steer went on to be named reserve champion steer of the show five field crop entries and three queens guinea steers have been entered in the royal agricultural winter fair mr stanley reported do not feel you have put away 441 for good the agricultural
