butter in one hand and i knife between his teeth but this year cord wu away in pail elgin for a week or so before the fall fair and i was quite al loose ends the house was always tidy there wasnt much laundry and meab were just odds and ends in front of the tv il was a great holiday and i wu bored stiff so to while away the time i pored over the prize list figuring out what i might stand a chance on if i entered then in a burst of enthusiasm i sent an entry form in biting apple pumpkin and lemon pies tea biscuits pizza and chocolate cake for myself then peanut butter cookies fancy sandwiches and chocolate cake for 12 year old beth and oatmeal cookies lea biscuits and apple pie for jim 10 yean old next i had to til down and figure out a schedule for that week to fit the baking in with jims problems instead of the regular allpurpose flour i hid decided to use cake flour and my putty which is usually flaky anyhow flaked to pieces all over the place then i lotl my pumpkin pie recipe and the one i settled on wasnt too good and when i got my chocolate cake hack out of the freezer and tried to ice it i got so mad i just about fed it to the dog each time the butler icing hit the frozen cake it went into a hard glob in the end i had to heat two spoons in a cup of hoi water and use them to spread the icing reheating them every half a minute but we did have fun at the meab eating the leftover thursday we had company for dinner and had pizza and pumpkin pie friday lunch wai tea biscuits cheese and lemon pie when we finally got everything into the fait it wai a load off my mind it wu getting to be a bit of a headache still jim got a first for hu apple pie and two thirds on the rest beth got a second and a third and i had a third second and a and three first in photography we weie all quite pleased once i got that week done i thought my headaches were over then cord came home wilh the news that hes invited i s people here this saturdayfor a rout suckling pig dinner and im
