aid obituary mrs thomas shields an old resident of snelgrove died on may and in the person of mrs thos shields who made her borne with her daughter mrs john crosier at mea dowvale mrs shields was born on i farm at ashgrove in 1844 so that she would be afl years of age at her death she was a daughter of john graham an irishman in laftt lubeoca gra ham married thomas shields and went with him to live at seventeen on the centre road that was her home until eight years ago when aha went to meadowvale to keep bouse for her son edgar the fax farm rancher when the infirmities of old age grew upon her she went to the home of her daughter mrs shields was a undly motherly woman who numbered all her neighbors as mends mrs shields was a lifelong methodist and since the union a member of the united church she is survived by one daughter mrs crosier meadowvale and two sons edgar of meadowvale and oliver farmer snelgrove and by ten grand- chudrcn mbs e c shook a familiar figure and highly respec south he liad pent the evening with his brother dr william m mcgulre who u re gistrar of norfolk county and an ex- president of the royal college of dental surgeons and ot the domin ion council after returning home he had evidently started out to visit a neighbor when the fatal attack oc curred he was in his fiftysecond year and leaves his wife and five young children dorothy marjorle william nora and george the fami ly came from dunnvllle to slmeoe about seven years ago dr mcgulre had identified himself prominently with public affairs here particularly in connection with the board of educa tion of which he had been an active member for several years he wu a member of trinity church a promin ent mason and in politics a conserva tive before coming to slmeoe he had practiced dentistry in dunnvllle for about 18 years there he likewise took a leading part in community affairs having been chairman of the board of education a putmutar of the masonic lodge put pirst prin cipal of the
