past year the testing of cattle in spectlon of milk premises and the increasing proportion of pasteurised ma- consumed has contributed large ly to the improved quality of milk sold in town the number of cases of tuberculous glands tuberculosis of bones and tuberculous menln jitis which are chiefly due to imp ire milk in georgetown has decrcised nptably in recent years there ts as yet no supervision over some of the cream consumed in town unfortunately it has been establish ed by the courts that milk and cream are two different producl our by law applies to milk only therefore some cream is being brought into town from untested herds nd unsupervised premises some of the cream may be safe but the board or health cannot be responsible for iu quality it is recommended that the by law be amended to include regu latlons for the sale of cream health authorities are agreed hat- the asfest milk and cream is hat which is properly pasteurized is ob talncd from tested herds with melt culous attention io its handling from the milker to the consumer complaints these arc chiefly related to 1 disposal of sewer material and 2 garbage 1 the public is becoming more aware of our deficiency in these re spects overflowing cesspools and septic tanks unhygienic and unslght ly privies with consequent odours ana attraction of flies are a distinct health menace it is probable that much of the dysentery in late sum mer is caused by these conditions many are not aware of the plight of many homes and public places which they visit or business places in near ly all cases every mftort is made to overcome unwhoireome conditions many times methods are expensive inefficient and temporary the riven are contaminated and frequently foul smelling they receive sewer material and factory waste which makes them mint for children to use all this can be remedied by setting up the nucleus of a sewer system conditions are becoming continuously worse and on many occasions factor tea and individuals have refused u locate here on account of this defici ency may your medical officer of health respe suggest that without loss of time the situation be studied- by engineers and plans be made to make a start 2 garbage disposal there is one official dump in our town park for the disposal of garbage material conditions might be reasonably satis factory if those who used it were more eareful there are a few who dispose of such material on vacant lots with out permission of your board a health this has occasioned many complaints warnings have been glv on to some ot th persons mtbl order have been given for the arret of anyone previously warned a sys tem of municipal garbage colleenon and disposal would solve the situation am is recommended glinio services h3b fooowtng to a
