there obituary martin luther near saving been in poor health lor the past few months which he bore with patience and christian fortitude mar tin luther near a well known and highly respected resident of george town for the past 29 years tiled at ills borne on george 8u on monday june 5th in his 73rd year deceased was born on lot 5 con 9 erin town ship a son of the la e wm near and deborah mcenerv before coming to georgetown he had farmed in the xrin district the late mr near was good dtlsen and a good neighbor talcing an active part in the affairs of the community in the years 1937 and 1939 he held the office of reeve of georgetown he was a member of orion lodge no 109 iooja and faithful member of the methodist church continuing as a member of the united church at the time of church union deceased leaves mourn his loss his wife who before marriage was miss bella akltt and one slater mks wm shoxtlll of bal- bnafad the funeral was held ot thursday afternoon with a private service at the home followed by a public service at the united church bev p c overend conducted the i vice and the pallbearers were four nephews messrs root and fred bhortul wm and alex near and wm henderson and john mclean there were many beautiful floral tri butes from relatives and friends and the flower bearers were nephews of the deceased interment was made greenwood cemetery georgetown gcorgs charles and district ipsa born on the farm on the first jfcje in esqueslng near acton a son of the late george and catharine alulhouand he had spent his en tire life in this district retiring from farm life about fifteen years ago he came toacton and has urlng this time been an employee of the beard more co respected and esteemed by ma five sisters and three brothers re main to mourn the loss of a brother beloved misses annie nellie and irene at home mrs s o reluy and mrs m traynor owen sound joseph and james of georgetown and john port arthur to all of these who were so suddenly bereaved sympathy of many friends is extended the funeral took place las thurs day at 10 00 am to st josephs church where he worshipped all his life the pastor rev father mc bride met the body at the door and
