the georgetown herald which are finding their way to me as well as to all the others who are on active service and far from the home town it is indeed a welcome gift to re ceive every week bringing news of all the friends back home thanking you again for this very gratefully received contribution i remain yours truly armand 8wackkam33r rj005t8 tifton qgorgia june s 1041 the editor the georgetown herald georgetown ontario dear sir although we have severed our con nection with ge rather com pletely we still read the herald and like to keep in touch with the old home town one of the ways i used to have of doing this was to- write and tell any good colored stories i heard not offcolor you understand they travel without being published but about colored people we still work colored men in shop and bee yard and find they have many good qualities and some very amus ing now you can believe this one or not but it is the actual truth and the latest episode happened just a few minutes ago several days ago jttmes came in with the sad report that a buddy of his was in the hospital and could he get off to go and see him enquiry produced the story that his wtfe had shot him the night before he didnt know why but the other colored boy in the wop suggested he had pro bably been running after- aome other well poisoning soon set in and the leg had to be amputated after that he seemed to be doing fairly wellun til yesterday the nurse telephoned over for james the hospital is only a few blocks from my shop when james came back he explained that the amputated leg was causing the patient a great deal of suffering and it would be necessary to go out to the cemetery dig it up torn it over and rebury it so this morning x loaned james my car he went to the hospital and got the nurse who is a white girl went with her to the cemetery dug up uie leg and chang ed its position reburied it and took the nurse back to the hospital he brought me the report that the patt en had known the exact moment they moved the buried leg and had relief from his suffering at that instant well t say you can believe it or not but i started writing this just after james came back and reported and left me to resume his work in the then of course the other colored boy in the shop had to put the cap sheaf on as we used to say and teu what happens if a child happens to be stillborn you must be careful not to bury that child too deep it you do and your wife dont get better you must go and dig it up and bury it closer to the suhface or youah sho gonna lose dat woman you are getting out a mighty good paper and i am sure the georgetown people must appreciate your efforts yours very truly morjjgy pbtttt now u the tune to have your electric store checked over before the warm months wiring appliances
