we sincerely hope will gain the support of every one of our readers last year the soldiers comforts committee was organized as an adjunct of the local red cross societ and given an initial donation of 100 from the society s funds to get it started the purpose of the committee is just what the name implies to pro vide our soldiers overseas with some of the little things that they cannot obtain for themselves cigarettes and tobacco chocolate bars tea etc more than this it aakws that we back home are thinking of them- and thinking of them in a practical way by sending along a parcel every now and then the work of this committee has been greatly increased in the past few months since the lome scots regiment arrived in england and there are now over 120 names on the list it is no small undertaking now to send a parcel to the boys even to send cigarettes once costs 120 and to add a few other things to the parcels increases the cost proportionally so far the funds have been raised by tag days baking sales and a few private donations of money and goods now the timp has come when the support of the public in general is needed to enable the com mittee to carry on it s work we hope
