much we can wrlto about from here but 1 11 try and tell you a little about our trip and what i can about this camp we left petawawu for the bast coast on october 3rd at 11 o clock at night well there was nothing to see till daylight then we started to see new country or new to most ol us it 1a a wonderful lece of scenery from three rivers to halifax we got off the train for half an hour at three rivers lor a short msfrch through the town then we got off again in quebec city that was a real march up through the city and all through the ow fort and back through the city to our train again we got on our boat about 8 o clock sunday night and just stayed on there till thursday oct 9th at 330 o clock that boat was just like a big house about six storeys high only after we left the dock oct 9th it wasn t so much like a house and two days out well it was more jlke a bucking horse than a house we dropped anchor at an english port oct 17th about 11 bjn and stayed there till saturday morning at 9 oclock then got in to the dock say those docks are some thing they are floating docks and they are as big as the main part of georgetown thank goodness they are most all still there yet we got off the boat at 2 pjn and right on the train at 3 pjn we started on our way oh gee you should see the trains here and the engines 1 there were two little wee ones that took our train outside the town that was two baby ones then up came a bigger one 1 guess that was a father engine but boy how they can go you don t any more than feel them start away or stop it was a nice trip from what i could see of it we could only see a few places where they have been bombed it was dark coming through london so we could see nothing of it at all it was also dark when we got here to camp it was 1015 pm the same night that vc got here we had a lit tk ovir a mile of a march from i the train to get to camp we had sup per and got to bed by 12 midnight i well ve are getting good meals here we don t get at much as we did sometimes in north b or pela waua vie art all looking for word a of our leru e which w t hopt o get within the next week or so 1 hope i ha no i i n mint so m far in t u it tir that i should not ha e said bi noi j is ixm ios ing 111 tn and tell jou a little about this camp i qoh t know how big it is or how min men there are here but it is a big camp and they are using a sj lot of emptj houses it looks a lot like a town here all or mostlj a u two store huts and nearlj all bnck where wt sleep thire are four b g rooms two up and two down there are tw o big w ashrooms then right next to our hut there is a big bath i house well i must go and eat now i s but 111 write more after that g well that a that one more good meal when we go to eat our whole troop marches oier we go in in two lines the first fellow puts on the meat the next spuds the next gravy jiien pudding cake or something then oread and butter well i am not say ing how much of each we get but i don t think we will starve oh yes i forgot after bread we get our tea or cocoa say about being clean i never saw a mess hall or kitchen as clean in my life the tables and floor are fcrubbed white well we havent started training here yet but i guess we soon- will so far all they are do ing is making us smarten uppshine our brass every day and boots twice a day always have a crease in our pants and shave every morning but at 1 brills dept store linens for the home will be very much appreciated this year our towels pillow slips sheets table cloths and combination sets are attractively displayed for yourmspection and approval ladies and misses housecoats and childrens kliytonas under wear silk lingerie ski jackets ski slacks satinuned velvet skating skirts silk hosiery handkerchiefs scarfs purses costume jewelry umbrellas blouses dresses etc etc c a verv complete totk of gloves for ladies men children in lined and unlined leather or wool where every name on your list can be soably cared for at such reasonable outlay why not check over the names on your list for ideas from the following suggestions the boys in the armed forces footwear of all descriptions ski boots dress and sport shoes over- shoes or cosy slippers for young and old will be delighted with your choice from our sharing in khaki or blue of fine quality handkerchiefs glove and scarf sets sox money belts dress shirts ties or fine dress shoes brill shirts and ties for men and boys scarfs pyjamas parka jackets sweaters and sport coats belts dressing gowns braces hand kerchiefs biltmore hat gift cer tificates tie clips shoe shine kits etc etc a complete line of sox for men and boys also women a sox and hose shop with comfort in our spacious store brills department store corner main and mill st georgetown kflft re is a little place about a mile up the street from here but you can t stx anything there after 7 o clock or so i understand i am about one hours bus rid from the lome scots i think i u try mid git
