members in toronto church parade i the georgetown branch of the ca tinpn legion received high honours when they attended the convention church parade in toronto by being placed in second position in the pa rade three delegates were appointed to attend the three day convention in toronto and on the invitation of com rade president stalford all those wish tag to attend the church parade were invited to attend the local legion hall at 12 noon sunday a special invitation was extended to the georgetown girls pipe band to attend and lead the local members at the church parade and close to fifty local comrades accompanied by sev oral members of the ladles auxiliary boarded two chartered buses and left georgetown at 1 pjn when the party reached toronto they assembled at the hotel carls rite until the tail in of the parade on the invitation of the manager of the carls rite the girls pipe band consented to play several selections in the rotunda of the hotel which was greatly enjoyed by the guests as shown by a round of applause after each selection played at 230 pjn the georgetown group headed by the girls pipe band march ed to their designed place at the comer of university and front streets to join the parade for the wonderful response shown by the georgetown branch in attend tag the parade the marshal placed the local branch in second position ta the parade which was indeed an honour for the local branch the parade moved off headed by the band of no 2 district followed by the colours of each branch numbering close to 100 flags then followed the georgetown girls pipe band and le glon followed by delegates accompanied by their bands from other towns and cities prom the amount of applause from the spectators who lined the streets the girls pipe band made a tremen dous hit in the city of toronto it is regrettable that as the parade moved on it started to rain which somewhat marred its beauty but all branches carried on and after follow tag the designed rooms for the annual unknown friend night at 7 pjn all sat down to a de ltctouo supper the tables were beauti fully decorated in the lodge colors of pink and green with paper candle holders representing a rose and each holding a pink or red candle at inter vals on the tables were pots of bayel tear plants and at each place a place card with a members name and the ta hie was laden with merrily along with many amusing situations developing but the climax comes at the end when the rd norval junior institute the regular monthly meeting of the norval junior institute and junior farmers was held on tuesday evening april 18 at the home of marlon bel and douglas ourrle the theme of the junior institute meeting waa beautifying the home and the roll call was answered by a clean ing hint meeting on april 17th with the president shirley ann thompson presiding the worship pe riod opened with the call to worahh together in gods house we meet followed by hymn 104 christ to lord has risen after which three members conducted a most impressivo devotional service the message of easter was vividly portrayed in story form by anne crabtree and in song by shirley doble jacqueline beaumont lead in prayer ross mcgilvray and joyce denim took up the offering which waa dedi cated by sandra shaw during the business period the minu tes of the previous meeting were read by jean tyler and the treasurefs re port given by anne crabtree a spring like atmosphere pervaded the sunday school room when a delightful chorus daffodil bright daffodil was sun by the entire band this was followed by an exercise spring and her mes sengers with shirley thompson dress shaw muriel spence dorothy lane betty clark joan doble eileen allan arid jacqueline beaumont represent ing spring flowers the president
