clarke of georgetown sgt clarke was met by his wife at the union station toronto on saturday sgt clarke seen action in italy mothers day flowers are stll ar riving from overseas and those who re and formerly used as a theatre in ther silent movie days has been purohasea by the oddfellows and verdun rebe- kah lodges the brick structure is in the process of being renovated to form a new oddfellows hall the upetalxs ot the arena was formerly used for this purpose the new hall was originally built for a dlciples church it has a ground floor spam of 38ieet by 31 feet thl room together with two anterodm5 win be the lodgeproper the ceiling- is being dropped new windows haver- been put in the balcony has been dls- inantled and the building re wired and redecorated a new heating system will be installed the members of the oddfellows lodge are doing the reno vating themselves as the oddfellows own uie parcel of land north of the building this space will be used fpr parklng cars the lodges expect to move into their new premises earlv next month to hal on county counclt on the invitation of the halton county council i was elected to te present our school at one of their regular of the boys we proceeded to the second floor of the building where we were shown the judge s chamber and other places of interest after which we gathered in the court room where the council holds its good old fashioned way mrs l a worden dies following a lengthy period of ill hi aith mrs l a worden passed away it the hospital at hamilton on saturday born at ballhiafad mrs worden had spent all her life in this district and for the past thirty years has been a resident of acton mrs worden was an accomplished pianist ami teacher of music and many of the yount people of this commu nity owe their grounding in music to htr efforts on their behalf she l survived by her husband l a worden the funeral was held on tuesday afternoon with a service at the john stone and rumley funeral home with her of mrs dean leslie on wednesday june 14th with a good attendance the meeting was convened by the home helper secretary mic red mound with mrs mcfadden of omagh as guest speaker mrs mcfadden is sectional vice president and pays the society a visit each year and as usual gave a splendid address they were also favoured with two lovely solos by mrs frances thompson with mrs h graham as accompanist a social hour wlth refreshments served by the honvf helpers was held at the close of the meeting and a hearty vote of thanks hi wen chosen words by miss redmound was given to mrs leslie
