wounded overseas in case you are interested hughes oleaver christie street hospital at toronto the toronto clone sz mail has recentlv tried to stir up a lot of partisan criticism with respect to this hospital as a matter of fact the brant military hospital at burlington was a beautifully located hospital on the laketront at burlington and should not have been closed after the last war at the request of toronto mp a and toronto doctors the union government which then was in office established the christie street hos pital and closed the brant hosoltal it was never the intention of the present government that the christie street hospital should become a permanent hospital for our ve terans of this war on account of the present shortage of both manpower and materials it was not thought wise to embark on the building of a ten million dollar hospital in wartime a new suitable site has been donated by the city of toronto and a contract for the first unit of the new hospital was awarded some months ago but the globe mall still keeps up the agitation and conveniently overlooks the fact that this type at a building cannot be built in a few weeks time like much of the mushroom type of war construction wort which we have done this type of criticism is just another example of the type cooperation which this newspaper has given to canada s war gov- ermnent ever since its pet idea of a national government was repudiated so decisively by the electors in 1940 mr and mrs t grieve attended the funeral in ingersoll today of mrs william hill a cousin of mrs grieve and her only
